Parents often wonder whether their child is too young. In our experience most children can begin happily between ages 4 and 6 — with the right lesson length and a patient teacher.
Signs your child is ready
Age matters less than attention. If your child can sit for 15–20 minutes, repeat sounds and recognise a few shapes, they are ready to start.
- Can focus for 15–20 minutes
- Enjoys repeating sounds and short surahs
- Knows some letters or shapes
وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا الْقُرْآنَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ
“And We have certainly made the Quran easy to remember, so is there anyone who will be mindful?”
Short lessons work best
For young children, 30-minute lessons two or three times a week beat long sessions. We begin with the Qaida Noorania and short surahs.
