Building a Hifz Plan That Actually Lasts

Building a Hifz Plan That Actually Lasts article cover

Almost every Hifz student can memorize new pages. Far fewer can recite last month's pages from memory. A durable plan gives revision more time than new material.

The three-part daily cycle

Every study day should contain all three parts, even on short days.

  • New memorization (sabaq) — a small, realistic portion
  • Recent revision (sabqi) — the last seven days of material
  • Distant revision (manzil) — everything memorized before that

Slow down to go faster

Half a page memorized perfectly, with Tajweed applied, is worth more than two pages recited approximately. Accuracy compounds; approximation collapses.

Recite to a teacher, always

Self-assessment hides errors. Weekly recitation to a qualified teacher is what keeps a Hifz plan honest and prepares a student for an authentic Ijazah chain.
